Still love the ocean

Sorry if this email is kinda short.  It was a pretty normal week, and not a lot happened.  Also, we had district activity today and we made pizza (picture in other email) and so that took a ton of time.  Also, we have a lesson at five, so we are trying to hurry to do all the things needed to be there on time.

This week has been pretty sweet.  Daniel is still on track to be baptized next month.  His suegro (father in law, I think) is in the hospital and he's really sick.  He has some kind of tumor.  We were going to have a lesson with Daniel hoy, but something happened with his suegro, and so he had to cancel on us.  Hopefully everything goes well.
Had exchanges with Elder Farnsworth last week too, on Wednesday to Thursday.  We had a few lessons and found some pretty cool people.  It was a fun exchange.  Elder Farnsworth is a cool Elder.

Saturday was pretty awesome too.  We found two new investigators!  A brother and sister; David and Vicky.  We knocked on Vicky's door, looking for an antiguo, but he moved away and so we found Vicky! SHe has 30 or so years with 2 kids, 11 and 8.  She is a pretty religious person and has had a lot of experience with prayer because the doctors had told her that she could never have kids, but she had 2 of them! So, she's really cool.  David is her brother.  They are both from Mexico.  the cunada of David actually rents a room to missionaries down in Mexico, so they have talked a lot to David.  He says he doesn't want to change, because he's "Catholic", but that's what they all say ;)  They are both super nice and loved the Plan of Salvation when we taught it to them.  They loved the Atonement and the things it can help them out with.  Hopefully we can start teaching the husband of Vicky and her two kids!  A full family!  WOO!

Eric came to church on Sunday!  WOOOOOOO!!!!!  He really liked it too!  At least the first two hours...  We talked to him after sacrament and he loved it.  The second hour, he loved it.  Then when church was over, he walked up to us and told us, "Sorry guys, but I don't think this is the path for me.  I really like it, and hopefully I will be here again in the future, but in this moment, it's not right for me."  We were heartbroken... :(  He was so cool!  But, we will give him a little and then try to go and visit him again.  He will definitely be baptized for sure!

We found another investigador yesterday, who were are going to see right now.  His name is Gustavo.  He is from Colombia.  He is hard to understand.

I don't know what we are going to do on Thursday.  But, we will probably be in Dana!  Why are DeVere and Toni going to Dana?

I received the Easter package yesterday!  THANKS! :)  Tell Shanny thanks too!  I received her St Patrick's/Easter package yesterday too :) I wish I had more time this week to write her a letter... Maybe the next week!  The tie is SWEET!  Yeah, it is SUPER thin (the material) and it ties a tiny knot, but it's awesome!  Jaja I received a few compliments on it yesterday (when I wore it).  I like it!

We weren't able to call Adriana :( I think we wrote down the number wrong when she gave it to us :(  But, she comes home this weekend, so todo esta bien!

We wake up at 6 every morning, so we can have time for everyone to shower and eat and get ready for the day so we can start studies at 8.  Getting up at 6 is not fun!  I don't like getting up early!  But, you can get a lot more things done in the morning and definitely feel more productive!

Well, that's all for this week!  I hope you have a wonderful week!

LOVE, ELDER HUNT

P.S.  I still love the ocean!  The waves were so good on Sunday!  Our church is right next to the ocean :)

Pizza

We made pizza today for district activity.  And while it was cooking we played vaca (the same game as horse, but in Spanish and shortened because horse is caballo and that's really long)

It was super good!  Hamburger, pepperoni, cheese, bacon and jalapenos!  I have a saying here in the mission: "Si no pica, no es comida!"  :)

Mi madre marvillosa

Feliz cumpleanos a ti
Feliz cumpleanos a ti
Feliz cumpleanos mi madre marvillosa
Feliz cumpleanos a ti!

Elder Thompson! (for sure)

So, last week, I got a new companion.  His name is Elder Thompson.  He is from Hurricane, Utah.  (but you have to say the -cane part like can, or he gets mad) haha.  Anyways, he was Elder Nelson's companion in the MTC, so that's cool for them to be together again.  It seems everybody has had a chance to be with their MTC companions or someone from their district at least once in the mission... Except me :( But, that's okay :)
This week has been pretty sweet.  We played an awesome prank on Elder Thompson that I will tell you about later.  It was soooo funny!  We taught some pretty sweet lessons too and found some new investigators. I also went on exchanges with Elder Nelson again! WOO!

So, we had a sweet lesson with Adriana.  She didn't do her assignment of Alma 40, so we read it with her.  She understands the things that the BOM talks about so well!  We taught her a little of the Plan of Salvation and the happiness it brings.  It was a good lesson.  She has gone down to Mexico for 2 weeks to visit with some family, so we won't be able to see her :( but, we are going to call her and check up on her reading and stuff so that she doesn't forget about us!  We can give a call to Mexico! It's going to be sweet!  Their numbers there are long.  Her's is  13 digits!

Also, remember Eric?  He is a lot cooler than we ever thought.  We had a lesson with him yesterday and WOW.  We gave him the assignment to read just 1 Nephi 1, but he read the first five chapters!  It was sweet.  He is really looking for more happiness and wants to feel God is really there.  He offered the opening prayer; it was short but he basically asked God to help him find more happiness and more meaning in life.  We didn't invite him to be baptized, because we didn't feel like it was right yet, but he will definitely be baptized soon.  His only concern is that all this church and reading and learning and stuff takes a lot of time, but once he realizes the happiness he finds from it all, the time won't matter.  He is even going to bring a friend to church this Sunday!  He's super cool.

We also set another date with Daniel.  I am pretty sure I have told you about him.  Elder Nelson and I taught him on Sunday and we just taught him again this morning.  He has a hard time remembering things, but he likes it when we come over and likes the things we teach him, so that's good.  His date is for the 20 of abril.

All the other investigators are doing well.  Progressing little by little.

So, for the prank we pulled on Elder Thompson.  Jajaja it was super funny...  So, in our house, we have an attic.  We decided on Monday night, before Elder Thompson came, to put the desks of the other Elders up in the attic, so they could study there.  Then we thought "It would be super funny if Elder Thompson came, and the other Elders stayed up there until like, 10:20 and then finally came back down and went to sleep."  He would have thought, "Man, where are the other Elders?!  They are super late!"  That would have been funny.  But, we made it even better.  We thought of having the other Elders sleep up in the attic the whole night and then leaving out the attic window to run while Elder Thompson and I ran a different route.  So, then it seemed like the other Elders didn't return home until after we were done running.  I hope this all makes sense.  It was kind of mean but soooooooooo funny!  So, that's what we did.  Before Elder Thompson arrived, we moved the desks, the bedding and everything that the other Elders would need for the night up to the attic.  So, Elder Thompson and I returned home for the night and planned.  (Elder Thompson and I returned a little later so that the Elders could get up to the attic without us being there).  We planned for the night, which took a lot longer because he was new to the area and I was explaining who everyone was to him.  When we finished planning, it was about 10:15, so we hurried and got ready for bed.  We were worried about the other Elders because they hadn't returned home yet.  But, we thought we would try in the morning to see if they would return home during the night.  When we woke up the next morning (a little later than usual so the other Elders could go out and run without us seeing them) they still weren't home, so we were like, "What did they do last night?!"  Then we thought, "Oh, I bet they are out running.  Let's go find them."  So, we went out for a run and still couldn't find them.  Then we returned home and Elder Farnsworth was sitting on the couch in his proselyting clothes.  Then we were all freaking out, like "where were you?!  What have you been doing?!"  We pulled off the prank pretty well.  We eventually told him everything was a prank, but it was super funny.  And don't worry, but Elder Thompson doesn't hate us for it :)

Elder Thompson is really cool.  He has taken a little adjusting, but he is a good missionary.  We get along pretty well.

I did receive the package!  But I received it yesterday, a day too late :( but, it was super sweet!  Thanks so much! :)  I haven't sent my pants in because I fixed them... Kind of.  All I needed was a few safety pins :) jaja

No new news about the mission change.  I would LOVE to go to the Irvine mission, but I don't think that will be possible... :(  I think Elder Thompson is going to train this transfer or the next, so I won't be here for the change in July... I hope he trains the next one because I have to baptize Adriana and Eric!  And I don't want another 2 transfer area :( it would be kind of cool though to say I had 3 different companions in a 2 transfer area!  So, unless I get transferred to Mission Viejo somewhere (Elder Nealy is up there now!  He switched spots with Elder Simmons (Elder Simmons is in Esco now)).  So, maybe I can still go to Irvine!  I hope so!

Well, I think that's it for this week.  I hope you all have a fantastic week!
Love, Elder Hunt

Elder Thompson! (I think)

Today has been a pretty crazy day.  We went out to run this morning, and upon returning home... Our door was locked.  Everything was locked!  We were locked out of our house...  We actually wake up at 6 to run (so we all have time to get ready and stuff before studies) and so we returned at 6:30...  We didn't have any phones or anything, so we were kind of stuck outside...  There are a few English members that live by us, but it was way too early to knock on their door, so we stayed outside for about an hour before knocking on some people's doors.  We finally were able to call President Cook on one of our neighbor's phones.  We were outside from 6 to about 9 in the morning in exercise clothes.  It was quite an adventure.  A cold adventure. And dark.  Stupid Daylight Savings.  And here they have street sweepers, and today they were street sweeping and if your car is in the way you get a 50 dollar ticket... Thankfully the street sweeper didn't come, but we could have gotten a ticket...  Today has been an exciting day.

So, our predictions were right!  Elder Owens is training and going up to Mission Viejo.  But, there are some crazy changes going on...  So, the 2 new missionaries that are coming in.  We are thinking they might be Visa waiters from another country because they are coming in in the middle of a transfer.  But, we aren't sure.  We won't know until later today when the Assistants come and take Elder Owens.  Elder Chavez is supposed to be the other missionary that is going to train and so we Elderes thought Elder Belbin (from San Marcos) for sure was going to come here.  But, we received a call last night that told us an Elder by the name of Elder Thompson (he was Elder Nelson's companion in the MTC) is coming here.  But we still aren't sure if he (Elder Thompson) will be with me either.  Elder Thompson is up in Rancho right now with Elder Simmons.  So.  There are some crazy changes going on right now, and we don't know anything...  But, it will be awesome!

Had exchanges with Elder Nelson this week.  They were sweet.  I really like Elder Nelson.  We weren't able to teach anyone, but we found some SWEET people.  Like, this one lady named Aurea.  She is a single mom and just wants the best for her kids.  She wants them to grow up in a good environment, and have the best.  So, we shared a Proclamacion with her and she loved it!  We are probably going to try to go over this week to see how she is.  She was awesome.

We also found a sweet new investigator.  Her name is Adriana.  She is about 24.  We contacted into her one day and told us we could pass by.  We were looking for a member that lived around that area, but she lived in the house that we were going to, so we thought he had moved away.  But, we came by on Friday and taught her a lesson and she told us her dad was a member!  We were shocked!  HE was baptized like, 10 years ago but then went inactive.  Adriana has a lot of interest and we are hoping that might spike an interest in her dad again and we can get him coming back to church too.  IT would be awesome!

Yesterday we found a new investigator too.  His name is Eric.  Elder Nelson and I contacted him on exchanges.  HE says he isn't interested a whole lot in religion, but is super interested in the BOM.  So, that's cool.  Elder Owens and I found more investigators in the past 2 weeks than I did my whole time with Elder Hansen.  It's crazy.

That would be so awesome if we made a trip to Cali when I return home!  Then you can meet all the members and people!  There's lots that speak English, but the mayoria doesn't.  But, that's okay :) That's why I am here!

English classes are still a no go, but we are trying hard.  Hopefully next week!

I didn't feel any earthquake... Where was it?

That's so cool Jaxon asked someone to Prom!  It will be awesome.  I didn't know you still had my pictures still up... That was a long time ago!  I hope she says yes.  Prom was fun.

Well, I believe that it is it for this week.  This next week should be pretty exciting!  I hope you are having fun and enjoying life.  I know I am !

Love, Elder Hunt

Spring has already come :) (in Cali)

So, my new companion is actually not a new companion...  He is an old one I had before!  We were both pretty shocked at transfer meeting when he called me and then he called... Elder Owens to be my companion again.  It's the first time I have heard of this happening, so it's pretty crazy.  But, there might be some changes within this next week...  This transfer, we have another traveling Assistant, like Elder Toronto was when I first started the mission.  His name is Elder Whittle.  He came on exchanges with Elder Owens and I yesterday (which was super sweet and more on that later).  Anyways, Elder Whittle was talking with President Cook yesterday, and there are actually two new missionaries coming in next week... So, they are trying to split areas and trying to make room for the new missionaries coming in.  It's pretty crazy.  Anyways, what we think the reason was for Elder Owens coming with me again was for him to wait for these new missionaries and then he will go and train one of them.  But, this is all rumors and our own thoughts, so we don't actually know anything. :) But, that's the word.

So, updates on investigators.  They are all doing good.  Craziest thing that happened this week: China (the crazy lady) came to church!!!!!  We were (I was) super surprised.  She said she really liked it and would be back next week. She might have more potencial than I thought!  We taught her on Wednesday, and the lesson was pretty good.  She likes to talk A LOT, so it was kind of hard to get our words in.  But, she said she wants to be a better person and is willing to read, so that's good!

Daniel is doing good.  We have taught him last Thursday.  He likes everything about the church, but he didn't come this week :( maybe next time though!

We found a SWEET investigator on Sunday.  He is a kid Elder Hansen and I talked to.  He has talked to missionaries for about two years and has had a few lessons here and there.

Elder Hansen and I tried teaching him, but he was never home... But, Elder Owens and I finally had a lesson with him!  We taught him a little about the BOM and what we can learn from it.  He has read the first 13 pages and already really likes it.  He says he likes it a lot more than the Bible because the Bible is super confusing.  +1 for truth :)  we also had a lesson with him Monday too, with Elder Whittle and set a baptism date!  He is such a super cool kid.  He really wants to change his life around (he has been in gangs for a long time).  The sad thing is is that he has 21 years and we might have to give him to the YSA ward... But!  We are all on the same team, so it's all good :)  he would definitely be baptized!  He is awesome.

Last week was pretty good.

The start of this week has been awesome too.  Yesterday, with Elder Whittle was sweet.  He is a fantastic missionary.  We spent like, 4 or 5 hours in a place called Paseo Carolina contacting and teaching people.  Jaja we spent so long outside I got a little sunburnt!  But, it was so sweet.  As missionaries, we are supposed to talk to EVERYONE.  That's something I have had a struggle with.  But, Elder Whittle showed me how easy it is!  Just like all those scriptures I wrote, all you have to do is open your mouth and it will be filled.  Elder Whittle has definitely helped me see contacting better.  Having an traveling Assistant is so sweet.  He let us use his phone last night and we talked to Elder Hansen!  Elder Hansen went to Fallbrook and is training.  Fallbrook hasn't had any missionaries in it for 8 or so months.  So, he whitewashed big time.  Elder Hansen is so awesome.  I really miss him.

The new Irvine mission will take the stakes of Rancho, Mission Viejo, Laguna and San Clemente and the stakes of Irvine and Newport Beach from the Anaheim mission.  So, there will only be 6 stakes, but close to 200 missionaries! CRAZY! Same with our mission.  We are taking the stake of Murrieta from the Riverside mission.  It would be so sweet going to the Irvine mission.  But, thinking about it, there won't be much Spanish... But, it would still be AWESOME.  I would love to go.

We should be starting English classes next week :)

The weather has been good here.  It is kind of cloudy today, but yesterday was PERFECT.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy there isn't a Walmart here... There's only Ralphs...  No me gusta :(  Neither Dana nor San Juan have a Walmart! It's crazy.  Not even Target!  Just Ralphs and Albertsons...  Two of the most expensive grocery stores...  I will be on the lookout for a plate for Grandma :)

Indoor soccer sounds SWEET.  We sometimes play it in the gyms of the churches with the ninos, but I don't think it would be the same because the churches have stages...  I am glad Maddy is okay though!  She's tough :)

I just read the new announcement about the scriptures!  That's so crazy.  I wonder when they will do Spanish scriptures... I don't read scriptures in English :) they are MEGA LAME.

Play the Apostasy game for FHE!  remember that?  Where you draw the pictures on the paper and then fold it?  That's a fun game

Sorry no pictures :( I forgot my camera at home!  We had appointments this morning that fell through and then we went shopping and now we are here and I forgot my camera... Lo siento mucho!  Te prometo que no la olvidare la proxima vez :)  Gracias por el paquete :) Estoy ANIMADO!  (no lo he recibido todavia)

Espero que tengan una buena semana!
Con amor, Elder Hunt

Love you!
