Templo de LA!

The weeks during the summer are always pretty slow...  But, we still always have lots of cool miracles!  God never ceases to bless us with miracles!

We had a lesson with Carlos Leon this week.  He is so cool!  He didn't read the assignment we gave him of 3 Nefi 11, so we read it with him.  In there it talks a lot of bautismo and it sparked a few questions that he had about baptism, like baptism for ninos and stuff like that.  He understands things very well.  He is progressing really well!  He's awesome.

I don't remember if I told you about Pedro Rubio...  He is a super inactive member that is the step father of the recent convert (Memo) in our area.  Sometime last week, after we set the date with Carlos Leon, he was talking to us and told us he feels an emptiness in his life.  He wanted to feel happy again and feel the Spirit again.  It's super cool, because he is willing to change and willing to do the things necessary to change.  We taught him on Friday and taught him about faith.  He is really cool and really wants to change to live according to the commandments and have that feeling of the Spirit again.

Saturday we went to the Los Angeles temple!!!  It was SO COOL.  It's the 2nd largest temple in the whole world (behind SLC).  I forgot my camera today, but next week, I will send pictures!  It's soooo nice inside.  Inside, you have to switch rooms, like the Salt Lake temple.  And the best part.  We did the session...  in SPANISH.  IT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!  I did it all in Spanish.  Everything.  It was AWESOME.  I was thinking the whole time, "I can understand all of this and have no problem!"  It was amazing.  Spanish is awesome.  The temple is awesome.  During my mission, I have been to 4 different temples!  Provo, San Diego, Newport and now Los Angeles!

Most of our investigators are doing well!  We keep finding new ones all the time, but nobody wants to commit and stay firm to a baptism date...  We have not seen or heard from Carmen for a while :(  her date was set for this weekend, but that definitely won't happen...  Hopefully we can find her soon.

Sounds like you had a great week!  I can't believe school started already!  Time goes by so quickly!  I hope Maddy feels better!

Well, I hope you have a wonderful week!
I love you!

P.S.  Next week is a holiday?  So we will email on Tuesday :)

Hola!

Hola!

This week was kind of a slow week.  It has been really hot outside and so there have not been many people outside... And when there is nobody outside, it becomes a lot more difficult to do work.  But!  We set a new baptismal date this week!  It was with Carlos Leon.  I think I told you about him...  He lives with a recent convert.  So, we taught him the Restoration and he really liked it!  He remembers a lot of what we taught him too.  He says he wants more happiness in his life and the lives of his family.  So, we told him that he could find it through the gospel and being baptized!  We set it for the 14 of September.  We are super excited!

We have not been able to find or get in contact with Carmen at all these past few weeks :(  We keep trying, but we have not had any luck yet :(  Hopefully everything is okay with her!

We had Zone Conference on Wednesday!  President Orgill is soooooooooooo much different than President Cook.  He has so much more energy!  As a mission, we are trying to start a new way of teaching.  The First Presidency and the 12 Apostles have done a lot of research and they have said that we should start teaching 15-20 minute lessons instead of the hour lessons.  They say that the Spirit is more strong and people will be more willing to allow us in.  It's a pretty cool idea.  It's a little more difficult to apply in Spanish work because Hispanics talk sooooooooooo much...  But, we have done it a few times and it has turned out really well!  It's pretty cool.

Not much else has happened this week...  It was kind of slow, but we had a lot of good moments.

Some super cool news.  This Saturday, our ward is having a temple trip to the Los Angeles temple.  They do it every year.  They bring members to do sessions and investigators to learn more about temples and about the church.  Bishop wanted us to come to help out with everything.  We told him he needed to call President Orgill to ask for permission.  We all thought that there was no way President Orgill would give us permission... But, he did!  On Saturday, we are going to the LA temple!  It's going to be super exciting.  I am super excited!

School has already started?!  Wow!  School doesn't start here for another 2 weeks.

Jaja I never iron my shirts...  I think I did it once.  Maybe.  As long as you hang them up right after you get them out of the dryer, it's okay!  But, he should still learn how to iron.  It's a good skill :)  he doesn't have much time left!  He's going to be leaving pretty soon!

Yeah, when I come home we can copy the CDs.  I have two.  I don't know all the songs on there, but we listened to them all on HT.  I would copy them here, but there is no way to copy any CDs or anything in the library :(

Time goes by really quickly!  Today is 100 days.  Tomorrow is 99!  Time flies by!

I hope you have a wonderful week!
I love you!

livin la vida loca

This week was pretty good!

Tuesday we had a lesson with a lady named Ana.  She is cool.  We set a baptismal date with her for the 10 of September.  It was awesome.

Found some really cool new investigators yesterday too.  We had this lesson set with a lady named Lola for right before church.  So, we went and they were actually there!  (usually lessons we set for Sunday morning, the people aren't there... :( )  but, this time there we there!  We didn't really teach Lola a whole lot because she was busy cooking, but we talked a lot more with her sister and her sister's husband.  Upon talking, the husband told us he was raised in the church!!!  We don't know if he was baptized or not because he said they baptized him when he was 5 or 6 and we don't do that...  But, his sisters and mom are members!  in mexico!  so, that's cool.  We didn't have a lot of time to be with them, because we had to go to church, but we set up another appointment and will visit them soon!  They are super cool.

We taught Carmen once, after English classes.  She was supposed to come to the baptism on Saturday, but she did not come... :( nor church on Sunday... :(  hopefully she is okay!  There was a baptismal service on Saturday!  It was really good.  There have not been many baptisms in this ward this year.. Right now, we have 6.  That's not a good number for a Spanish ward.  We are working really hard and things are starting to finally pick up.  With the extension that President gave us, now we can work even harder and see more miracles before we go home!  I was kind of sad to extend, but that only lasted like a second.  I feel a lot better about the decision to stay instead of going home earlier.  President basically told us that Elder Nealy and I are going to stay together until the end.  I am excited!  We are going to see tons of miracles and help lots of people come closer to our Heavenly Father.

Thanksgiving weekend is going to be fun!!!  I hope I don't sleep the whole time...

Dad's story is so cool!  He's famous!

Your dream sounds really good!  I am glad you finally got to hug a missionary :)  pretty soon you can hug YOUR missionary!!!  That's so crazy that Josh is home now!  Time goes by so quickly!!!

You should send me your lessons!  I would love to read them!  I am running out of things to study...  Once you have been a missionary for a while, study topics are hard to find.  I have been reading the book Articles of Faith by James E. Talmage.  It's good, but Elder Talmage is kind of boring sometimes... jaja

When does school start?!

Jaxon only has 30 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I hope that this week goes well for you all!  I love you!

P.S.  Mom, 3 questions.  Question #1.  Do you think Coreyne would let us (Elder Nealy, Elder Simmons and I) move into her house in Orem?  It would be super cool.
Question #2.  I am saving up for a WiiU for when I return home.  But, I realized the other day that I will be coming home when the holiday season is going on and it might be hard to find a WiiU when I come home...  Can you use my money and buy one for me?  then don't let anyone touch it.  :)  Then I can use the saved up money that I have to replace the money that you used to buy it.
Question #3.  Elder Nealy needs a place to stay after the mission.  Can he stay with us?

Thanks Mom!  You are the best!!!  I love you!

that picture I owed ya

Hopefully this sends.  This is Elder Nealy and I with Elder Clinger.  He is an English missionary.  He is super funny.  I lived with him in Esco when we were fumigated!

extension

So.  I thought I would get on and tell you.  We just received a call from President Orgill.  He asked us both to extend the mission by two weeks and go home the 27th of November.  So, we said yes!  Hopefully that does not cause any problems.  I feel a lot better with this decision than the other one.  Almost 3 Thanksgivings in the field!  Missed it by one day :)

I love you both Mom and Dad!  You are the best parents ever!

I made a shirt

This week was a really good week!

Remember Mario?  Well, he goes back to Sacramento today :( we taught him two times last week and they were both really good.  We watched the Joseph Smith movie with him and he really liked it.  He said the movie answered a lot of questions that he had.  The Spirit was super powerful.  The Sacramento missionaries are definitely going to have a baptism!
We also taught Carmen!  And set a baptismal date with her!  YAY!  It's for the 31 of agosto.  She is excited.  We were really afraid we offended her because last Thursday, she did not come to English class... After coming every class for almost a month.  We called her and sent her messages and everything, but she never answered.  We were sad :( then she sent us a message the next and said she went to Arizona with her family and that's why she could not make it.  But, everything is still good!  We should teach her sometime this week.  Maybe set some dates with her kids!  She has 5, 4 above 8 years old.  Maybe her husband too?  Family baptisms!!!  On Wednesday, since Elder Nealy is District Leader, we had zone leader exchanges!  Yay!  This time Elder Bottoroff (he's an Anaheim missionary) came to my area.  He is kind of a strange person...  But, he's cool.  We taught (I taught because he doesn't speak NADA de espanol) lots of lessons!  We found a new investigator.  His name is Johan.  He is the spouse of another one of our investiagators, Elizabeth.  He has lots of interest in the Plan of Salvacion!  He has lots of potencial.

Monday P-day = very weird.  It still feels like Tuesday.  last week was sooooo long...  It felt like we skipped a day.  But, there's not many Monday P-Days left, so I can deal with it :)

New temple movie?!  That's so crazy!  Maybe when we go to the temple next time, we can see it!  I cannot believe Jaxon already went to the temple!  That's so crazy!  He's so old!  Tell him to email me!  He never emails me! :(

I can't believe Jaxon already has all his clothes bought!  How much time does he have left?  He leaves soon!  OMJ!  Dansko shoes are the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest

Man, the missionaries cover 40 different wards?!?!  That's like our whole mission!  That's crazy!

Sounds like you had a great week!  Hopefully this next one will be just as awesome!

I hope you have a wonderful week!
Love you!
